I thought "so what" when I heard that Martinez had scored twice but, when you look at it, our U21s played in the Checkatrade Cup against League 1 opposition.
Sure Bristol Rovers made changes but they had to play 7 first teamers from the previous League 1 game from the rules according to Westley. He also said that the benchmark showed that most of the U21 team could play at League 1 level now. Captained by Rice too....

There is a rumour that Martinez is being held back as a first team appearance will cost us an additional payment. If true I can't see that being down to Bilic.

I read somewhere that Bilic NEVER attends the youth games, if that is true that is an absolute scandal.
He has been quoted as saying Martinez is "not ready"....FFS how would you know !?!
Probably trusts his 70 year old fitness guru with cataracts to scout players, that makes so much sense now !

I imagine most League 1 sides rotate a bit in this competition but this is good experience for our lads.
This month they have beaten Man Utd & Man City and had the better of a draw at Chelsea.
Agree with norman ... they will have to keep learning and wait for the new manager.
Playing some good stuff I hear with Holland, Haksabanovic , Martinez etc

Bilic can't even figure out how to play Hernandez correctly..which is insane.
Picking any more youngsters ain't going to happen this season..because Bilic isnt interested...he..like everyone else are just marking time now.
They won't sack him to save the balls ache and a few bob.
He ain't shifting for monetary reasons
We don't get a say.

Only a matter of time until Carroll and Sakho are both injured at the same time. Sakho might even be off in January. Opportunities will come, but it's hard to see Martinez getting a game on merit, even if he scores in every U23 game until Christmas.

Went to the Swindon game in the same competition last month. Really good game and Nathan Holland was the best player on the pitch.
